Julie Boada, Anishinabe artist and Fond Du Lac member, introduces the art of beading. Work with Julie to create a pair of gorgeous beaded earrings to wear or give as a gift to someone special in your life.

Create a unique jewelry box for yourself or as a Valentine’s Day present for someone you love. Using a cigar box, fabric, yarn, ribbons, lace, fancy papers, cabochons and more, fashion a bespoke vessel for sparkles and treasures. Bring photos from home if you wish to incorporate them; otherwise, all materials will be provided. Taught by artist Linda Jensen.

Have a torn but beloved article of clothing you can’t bear to throw away? No need! Bring those pieces and join artist Sara Kerr to learn how to stylishly mend your clothing with visible mending, appliqué patching, and Sashiko stitching. You can also learn how to shorten jeans with the original hem. You’ll keep more clothing from being thrown away OR out of the dump! No previous sewing experience necessary.

Come celebrate spring at ArtScraps with an evening of art, poetry, and light refreshments. Curated by Patrick Hansel, author of The Devouring Land and Quitting Time. Patrick has twice been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and was part of the Mentor Series for the Loft Literary Center.

He has published in over 85 journals, including Crannog, Ilanot Review, Hawai’i Pacific Review, and RiverSedge. Nominated three times for the Pushcart Prize, he has won awards from the Loft Literary Center and MN State Arts Board. His novellas Searching and Returning were serialized in 33 issues of The Alley News. Work with artist Gustavo Boada to learn the technique of dry needle felting as you create your favorite symbol of spring: a baby chick, bunny rabbit, robin, or easter egg! Use felting tools and colorful roving to create your own wooly wonder. All materials provided.

Bob Ross Style: Happy Little Trees

Artist Bob Ross was famous for his wet-on-wet style painting. In this class, work with artist Kari Fraki to learn some of the techniques that he used to create a landscape painting full of color and texture. Bring a beverage of your choice,  roll up your sleeves,  and get creative in this relaxed evening workshop at the ArtScraps store.

Make a mini book, a unique greeting card that tells a story. By stitching an extra page into a card, you will create more space to play with. Visual artist and poet Marie Olofsdotter will help you write a brief poem inspired by Mother’s Day, or any other theme close to your heart. Embellish the card using collage, stamping, stickers, and more, and walk away with a cherished gift for someone special. All materials are provided.
