Our popular poetry series continues! Come celebrate autumn at our cozy ArtScraps store with an evening of art, poetry, and light refreshments. Patrick Cabello Hansel curates the ArtStart poetry series. His titles include The Devouring Land, Quitting Time and his latest Breathing in Minneapolis, which deals with the challenges that the city faced during 2020-2021. He has published poems and prose in over 90 journals and won awards from the Loft Literary Center and MN State Arts Board. All readings are free, but registration is required. Loop Earrings: Intro to Beading

Loop Earrings: Intro to Beading - Led by Alicia De La Cruz, a Minneapolis-based Ojibwe artist enrolled in the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. In this workshop, participants will learn how to make a beginner-friendly beading project from start to finish. Participants can choose from loop earrings or a loop necklace.

This 4-part series is designed as a creative sampler. Participants will cross back and forth across the imaginary boundaries between art and poetry. While the series is designed to build creative muscle when taken as a whole, we also welcome sign-ups for individual classes for those whose schedules demand more flexibility.
Oct. 6 • Collage: Using found words and images, infuse an ordinary object with your unique heart and intelligence to turn it into an extraordinary artifact.

Autumn Leaves: Watercolor Techniques

Join us for a watercolor celebration of fall leaves using varieties of leaves and painting techniques; some you may know and some you may not have tried! We will use layering, glazing, illustrating and printing. Methods will be simple and painters can use them as they are inspired. Color theory strategies will help you show off your compositions and play with many design and texture options.
