Our popular poetry series continues! Come celebrate autumn at our cozy ArtScraps store with an evening of art, poetry, and light refreshments. Curated by Patrick Cabello Hansel, author of The Devouring Land, Quitting Time, and Breathing in Minneapolis. Patrick has twice been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and was part of the Mentor Series for the Loft Literary Center. Our September poetry night features Joshua Davies, Mary Moore Easter, and Su Love.

Patrick Cabello Hansel’s poetry collections are The Devouring Land (Main Street Rag Publishing) Quitting Time (Atmosphere Press) and Breathing in Minneapolis (Finishing Line Press). He has published in over 85 journals, including Crannog, Ilanot Review, Hawai’i Pacific Review, and RiverSedge. Nominated three times for the Pushcart Prize, he has won awards from the Loft Literary Center and MN State Arts Board. His novellas Searching and Returning were serialized in 33 issues of The Alley News. He is the founding editor of The Phoenix of Phillips, a literary journal by and for the most diverse community in Minneapolis. artecabellohansel.com

With a background in professional dance and theatre, Joshua Davies believes in the communal, performative aspect of poetry. In tandem with Cracked Walnut, he curates and hosts the reading series Words from the Valley at the Stillwater Public Library and Brass Cabaret, an interdisciplinary series at Harriet Brasserie in Minneapolis. His work was included in Under Purple Skies: The Minneapolis Anthology by Beltline Publications. His villanelle "In My Undoing" appears in the forthcoming issue of Agates by the League of Minnesota Poets. 

Mary Moore Easter’s first poetry collection, The Body of the World (Mad Hat Press 2018), was a finalist for both the 2019 Minnesota Book Award in Poetry and the 2018 Prairie Schooner Book Prize; she is also author of the chapbook, Walking From Origins (Heywood Press). A sampling of her publications includes Poetry, Waterstone, NY Times, The Portable Boog Reader and Prairie Schooner. She is a Pushcart Prize-nominated poet; Cave Canem Fellow; veteran dancer /choreographer and emerita professor of dance at Carleton College which named their new Weitz Center Studios in her honor: The Mary Easter Dance Studios. Easter has received Bush and McKnight fellowships, a Loft Creative Non-Fiction Award, and was a featured poet in the Unamuno Author Series Festival in Madrid, Spain.

Su Love is the author of six collections of poetry including The Memoir of Mona Lisa. Love is a 2024 Pine Needles Artist in Residency, a program of the St. Croix Watershed Research Station, funded by the Minnesota Legacy Amendment – Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. They are also a fiscal year 2024 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Love is also a recipient of a Next Step Fund grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, made possible with support from the McKnight Foundation.
